Movement is a vital part of life - we are made to move! But often aches and pains restrict our ability and desire to move. I know this first hand.
As a kid, I was an avid skateboarder and snowboarder. I regularly suffered bumps and bruises plus a few more serious injuries as an adult (including ACL reconstruction, bunion surgeries, and cancer). I coped with the pain and worked through rehabilitation, at times feeling frustrated, but recognizing that those challenges presented opportunities for growth and positive change.
My current challenge is living with moderate to severe hip dysplasia. Knowing that surgery is not always the answer, and that movement is crucial, I rely on the skills I’ve learned to help keep my joints healthy and mobile, allowing me to still stay super active. Snowboarding, mountain biking, paddle boarding, Pilates, Yoga - I can happily engage in all the activities I love! You can too.
We all have our movement stories, and each one is different. I find joy in helping people re-write those stories. My 20 years of Pilates and Yoga experience, two comprehensive training certifications, and numerous other movement based certifications, have helped me develop the tools to help you succeed in finding your new story. I’m always excited to be there for the journey!

Whether you are simply trying to strengthen weak abdominal muscles and loosen stiff joints, or if you are addressing something more serious such as recovering from shoulder surgery or rehabilitating a herniated disc, Pilates is for you. My varied approaches, utilizing whole-body-movement, make it possible for everyone to move with more freedom and less pain.
It is through my love of people and understanding of movement that I created Awake Bodies—a place to learn about your unique body and improve the way you move and feel. My goal was to provide an inviting space filled with positive energy where people could build strength, awareness, and balance.
I am especially excited to be able pass my knowledge on to those who want to take their training to a new level and become teachers themselves. I can’t tell you the feeling of pride and reward you will gain knowing that you were part of making someone’s life better. My Awake Bodies Pilates Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive program that can help you reach that goal.
My love of problem solving, holding people accountable, and breaking down all things movement related, is what keeps me constantly learning, keeps me energized, and keeps me dedicated to helping you be the best YOU possible!

A few personal things:
I am a mom of 3 and I love to travel! I also love to be outside, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, backpacking, and swimming. I'm a life-long learner, and I am currently focusing on the German language and how to grow a garden.
In July of 2015, my family relocated from Norfolk to Leavenworth. We own a restaurant providing nourishing and healthy broth bowls while staying environmentally ethical to food sources.
