Awake Bodies Presents: The Oov Experience
At Awake Bodies, we believe functional movement is the foundation of a strong, pain-free and vibrant life. Functional movement is not just about strength — it's the perfect balance of strength, control and coordination. When your body moves the way it was designed to, you reduce the risk of injury, easy chronic pain and improve overall performance — in the gym, at work and in daily life.
This is exactly why we've brought the Oov into our practice.

What is the Oov?
The Oov is a revolutionary movement tool designed to support and challenge the body at the same time. Its unique 3D shape perfectly matches the natural curves of the human spine — unlike any other device you lie on. This design encourages optimal spinal alignment while allowing your body to move freely in all three planes of motion (sagittal, frontal, and transverse).
We love to say the Oov “wakes up” your deep core stabilizers — the muscles responsible for keeping you upright, strong, and pain-free.

Why Train with the Oov?
Activates the Deep Core System
The Oov doesn’t let your big, surface muscles do all the work. Instead, it encourages you to engage the deep core stabilizers (including your diaphragm, pelvic floor, and transverse abdominis) for true stability from the inside out. This is the foundation of good posture, balance, and controlled movement.
Improves Motor Control and Body Awareness
Because the Oov subtly destabilizes your position, your nervous system has to stay “awake” — making constant micro-adjustments to keep you balanced. This boosts proprioception (body awareness) and trains you to move efficiently and with better control, both in exercise and in everyday life.
Supports Healthy Spinal Curves
Unlike flat mats or hard rollers, the Oov cradles the natural three curves of the spine. This decompresses the spine and helps reduce tension in the lower back, neck, and shoulders. The pelvis is gently lifted off the ground, giving it freedom to move in all directions — an essential part of true core training.
Enhances Breathing and Nervous System Regulation
When you lie on the Oov, your head is slightly lower than your hips. This positioning encourages diaphragmatic breathing, helping calm the nervous system and shift you out of “fight or flight” mode. Proper diaphragmatic breathing not only reduces stress but is also crucial for core stability and overall movement efficiency.
Dynamic, Not Passive
The Oov is made of a proprietary material that is soft and flexible — but only to a point. As your body moves, the foam gently pushes back, giving you just enough feedback to keep your stabilizers working without strain. This means you can safely challenge your strength, mobility, and control — whether you’re in rehab or high-level performance training.
