Restore Your Body.
Reignite Your Practice.
As movement teachers, we give so much of ourselves to others that our own wellbeing often gets pushed aside. This retreat is an invitation to step away. Spend six days in the beauty of the Cascades soothing your nervous system, reconnecting to your body, and rekindling the passion that brought you to this work in the first place.
Learn alongside Madeline Black and a small community of fellow teachers, earn 18 CECs, and leave with renewed inspiration, fresh perspective, and deeper connection to your practice and purpose.

Your Mountain Backdrop
Tucked into the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains, Leavenworth feels like stepping into another world. Hand-painted murals, alpine architecture, and flower-filled balconies line the streets of this storybook village. Surrounded on every side by towering peaks, alpine lakes, and the rushing Wenatchee River.
In late September, the larches turn gold, the air turns crisp, and the village glows with autumn light. Join Madeline each morning for coffee and breakfast before days filled with movement, learning, and enjoying fall in the mountains. Between sessions, you'll have time to wander cobblestone streets, sip coffee at a local café, hike along the river, or simply sit on the lodge deck and watch the mountains change color as the day moves on.
It's the kind of place where you exhale the moment you arrive.
Our retreat is hosted at a private lodge on the banks of the Wenatchee River, just outside the village of Leavenworth. Towering pines, wide decks, and the steady sound of the river make it feel a world away — even though town is only minutes from the door.
Inside, the lodge is warm and unhurried: comfortable indoor spaces for our sessions and meals, plenty of room to settle in with a book or a cup of coffee, and quiet corners for conversation. Outside, you'll find peaceful spots to sit, a hot tub for evenings under the stars, and easy access to the river just steps away.
*We do have limited on site availability, please contact us if you are interested in staying on location.

Meet Madeline Black
For over 30 years, Madeline Black has dedicated her life to understanding how the human body moves.
Her curiosity has led her through dance, Pilates, yoga, Gyrotonic®, and fitness training. Deeper still, into the study of biomechanics, human cadaver dissection, osteopathic principles, and manual therapies. From that lifetime of inquiry, she developed the Madeline Black Method™, an approach that teaches movement professionals to use assessment, sequencing, and manual techniques to help their clients reach their fullest potential.
She is the author of Centered: Organizing the Body Through Movement Theory, Kinesiology and Pilates Techniques (Handspring Publishing), and an internationally recognized leader in movement and exercise education.
What sets Madeline apart is her intuitive integrity, her articulate awareness of the body, and her decades of expertise. These are gifts she brings to every teacher fortunate enough to learn from her.

HALI FIANO
Hali Fiano is the owner of Awake Bodies, a Pilates and movement studio in Leavenworth, and a longtime student of the Madeline Black Method. After years of training with Madeline, she's bringing this retreat home — to the mountain town she loves and the community she's built there.
KELLY FORTMANN
Kelly Fortmann is your retreat coordinator. A certified Pilates teacher and seasoned organizer, she's the one making sure every detail — from your morning coffee to your alpine hike — runs seamlessly so you can focus on showing up.
